Lagarde announces her candidacy for the head of IMF

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Today, during a press conference, French Economy Minister Christine Lagarde announced her will to run for head of the IMF, after Dominique Strauss-Kahn's resignation from the post last week. She would be the first woman to hold this office.

She is considered to be the front runner, even though countries such as China, Brazil or India are proposing their own candidates, arguing that the next IMF head should come from a different continent.
